The Junior Youth program is in recess for the summer. Watch for our new schedule of activities to start up in September. During the past year this group participated in a combination of fun and service activities, including laser tag, rock climbing, a trip to Hemlock Overlook, a dance, a retreat at Raven Rock Lutheran Camp, rock climbing at Sportrock, and a year-end trip to Six Flags. In service to the church/community they sorted food for the Thanksgiving baskets and put together care packages for the college students in our congregation, and in December they offered congregational babysitting.
This group meets on the fourth Sunday of each month. Friends are always welcome to join the fun.
What is the GSLC Senior High Youth Group? Good Shepherd Lutheran Church is committed to making more and better disciples of Jesus Christ. A very important part of that mission is our Senior High Youth Group program. We share the Gospel of Jesus Christ, in word and deed, with the teens of our church and their friends - and have a great time while doing it. We strive to provide a safe environment for our teenagers to have Christian fellowship and to develop friendships with other Christian teens. We do this through a series of activities:
- Sunday School - Our special Bible study focuses on how God's people stand up and stand out as individuals and as the body of Christ.
- Second Sunday - We meet the second Sunday of every month from 5 - 8pm for fellowship and dinner.
- Special Events - We have one or two special events each month including an annual ski trip, a Six Flags trip, retreats, and several other activities.
- Service Projects - Because compassion is at the very heart of who God is, we include several events to serve the poor, including the 30-Hour Famine and Christmas in April.
- National Youth Gathering (NYG) - Every third year, members of the youth group attend the NYG with 35,000 other LCMS youth from around the world.
- TNT (Tuesday Night Truth) - We meet during the summer on Tuesdays for fellowship, Bible Study, and ice cream. Friends are welcome!
A very important part of Good Shepherd's Mission is to make more and better disciples of Christ. The youth are always encouraged and welcome to bring friends to any event!
The Men's Fellowship Group mission is to foster Christian brotherhood for the adult men of Good Shepherd. We hold regular meetings as well as special events.
For over five years the primary platform to support this goal is the Fall/Winter Saturday morning breakfasts. Men of the congregation as well as guest speakers share their personal Christian faith experiences with the group.
The men also contribute their time, energy, and imaginative cooking skills as chef-of-the-month. Our program would not be complete without the musical talents of members who provide the accompaniment for the hymn of each breakfast.
In addition to the regular breakfasts, the Men's Fellowship hosts an annual St. Valentine's breakfast for Good Shepherd couples. This event continues to become very popular.
The Men's Fellowship also sponsors activities for the entire congregation. Events this past year included a day trip to the historic Antienam National Battlefield Park.
For the coming year, Men's Fellowship will continue to support its Saturday breakfasts. We already have several unique breakfasts planned, including special Hawaiian and Marine Corps themes.
