An Icon Painting Workshopmeetsevery Saturday from 5 to 8 pm starting room 119 at Good Shepherd.Donald F. Evans, a local Iconographer, will lead the group by demonstrating the techniques he uses to create icons.The class will cover selecting an icon to copy, transferring it to a wooden panel, applying gold leaf, creating paint from natural pigments and egg tempera, dry brush technique, wet brush technique, petit lac technique, painting with shell gold, applying gold assist and finishing the icon with linseed oil and varnish.The workshop is for everyone.It is free; however, each person will be expected to provide his/her own materials.To write an icon is to meditate upon the mysteries of God.
